HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leroy Edward Brinkman of Payson, who
4passed away on October 14, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman was born to Lawrence Bernard and
6Marie Rose Goerlich Brinkman in Quincy on December 14, 1929;
7he went to St. Francis School in Quincy through eighth grade
8and attended Notre Dame High School for one year; he married
9Virginia Mae Stahl at Notre Dame Catholic Church in LaGrange,
10Missouri on September 28, 1949, and they recently celebrated
1172 years of marriage; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman worked on the family farm with his
13father; he also worked at the Packaging Corporation and was
14employed at Moorman Manufacturing for 29 years until his
15retirement in 1992; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman was a member of St. Boniface
17Catholic Church; after it closed, he became a member of St.
18Francis Solanus Church; he was a member of the Payson School
19Board from 1972 to 1981 and a member of the Knights of
20Columbus; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman enjoyed coaching the girls Payson

1Progressors 4-H softball team for many years, including
2several trips to state tournaments; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman farmed and also maintained a large
4garden with his wife; they were known for their strawberry
5patch; he enjoyed being active and regularly attended sporting
6events, concerts, plays, and school gatherings to watch his
7children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman was preceded in death by his
9parents; his son, Randy (Sandy) Brinkman; his three
10sons-in-law, Terry Graham, Bill Behymer, and Charles Finley;
11his grandson, Alan Lewton; a great-granddaughter; two
12great-grandsons; his two brothers, Kenneth and James (Betty)
13Brinkman; and his brother-in-law, Lenny Venvertloh; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman is survived by his wife, Virginia;
15his 14 children and their families, Stanley (Joan) Brinkman
16and children Jean (Justin) Oenning and Shawn; Steven (Linda)
17Brinkman and children Chad, Troy (Monica), and Lance
18(Margaret); Marlene Graham and children Clint (Jo), Cristall,
19and Curtis (Kristin); children of Randy (Sandy) Brinkman, Kim
20Sparks, Craig (Nikki) and Amy; Rodney (Amy Willer) Brinkman
21and children Anne, Adam and Austin (Krissy); Leann (Jack
22Moore) Behymer and children Jason Lewton, Anna (James) Lemon,
23and Brian (Michel) Lewton; Cherlyn (Randy) Davis; Charlene

1Brinkman and children Eric (Angie), Jonathan, and Justin
2(Kelsey) Davis; Kristy (Mark) Jeffers; Kathy Finley and
3children Marie, Dan (Sarah), Ross (Rose), Jay (Erica), and
4Jack; Brinton (Rhonda) Brinkman and children Allison and
5Kaitlyn; Bruce (Rita) Brinkman and children Dustin, Bethany,
6and Ryan; Rebecca (Steve) Conrad and children Kayla (Mark)
7Hoerr and Klayton; Leroy "Butch" (Rhonda) Brinkman and
8children Noah (Lacey Roberts), Sam, and Lauren; and Virginia
9"Linn" (Jim) Dingerson and children Nicholas and Danielle; his
10five step-grandchildren; his 35 great-grandchildren with one
11great-grandchild on the way; his 13 step-great-grandchildren;
12and his sister, Mildred Venvertloh; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Leroy Edward Brinkman and extend our
16sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
17and loved him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Leroy Brinkman as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
