HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Julius
4Eli Golembo, who passed away at his home in Deerfield on July
525, 2021 at the age of 106; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Julius Golembo was born in the Douglas Park
7neighborhood on Chicago's West Side to Saul and Jennie
8Golembo, Jewish emigrants from Lithuania, on March 6, 1915;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Julius Golembo valued perseverance, commitment,
11and hard work; as a child of the Great Depression, he survived
12on limited rations and dreamt of a stable career and the
13ability to provide for his family; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Julius Golembo studied and became a pharmacist;
15he started his career earning $.50 an hour and worked hard to
16advance, eventually seizing the opportunity to own his own
17pharmacies in Chicago and the suburbs; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Julius Golembo worked as a pharmacist for over 70
19years and finally retired in his 90s while working as a
20pharmacist in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago; and

1    WHEREAS, Julius Golembo was an honest man of faith and a
2committed member of his shul, never missing a service; and
 
3    WHEREAS, At 106, Julius Golembo still had the wits of a
4young man with an uncanny ability to recall minute details,
5such as moments from seemingly disparate ball games from
6decades prior; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Julius Golembo left a mark on the hearts of those
8who knew him with his always upbeat demeanor and an ability to
9remain present in all his interactions; he always wanted the
10best for his loved ones and family; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Julius Golembo was a beloved son, brother,
12husband, father, uncle, grandfather, friend, and so much more;
13he wanted nothing but the best for his loved ones and family;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we mourn the passing of Julius Eli Golembo and extend our
18sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
19and loved him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Julius Golembo as an expression of
