HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Western Springs 11U
4All-Stars baseball team on winning the Illinois Little League
5State Championship for District 9 on July 30, 2021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Illinois Little League State Tournament, held
7in Moline, was a double elimination tournament; the Western
8Springs 11U All-Stars went unbeaten into the final game
9against River Forest, who had a third round loss to Western
10Springs; Western Springs lost the first game to River Forest
11on Thursday night and returned Friday for the final game
12versus River Forest; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The final game of the Western Springs 11U All
14Stars was a team effort led by the complete game pitching of
15John Bukovac and strong plays in the infield by second baseman
16Marty Svelnis and third baseman Luke Garofola; a final double
17play ground ball from short stop Jimmy Broderick to first
18baseman Owen Thiede concluded the final game, which also
19included key hits by catcher Frankie Zimmer, Luke Garofola,
20Owen Thiede, and John Bukovac; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The Western Springs 11U All-Stars won the final
22game in a tight, exciting 4-3 victory; and

1    WHEREAS, The Western Springs 11U All-Stars are Jimmy
2Broderick, John Bukovac, Daniel Caldwell, Ryan Caraher Jr.,
3Murphy Cella, Lincoln DeMauro, Charlie Drai, Luke Garofola,
4Sam Schmidt, Marty Svelnis, Owen Thiede, and Frankie Zimmer;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Western Springs 11U All-Stars are led by
7Manager Jeff Thiede and Assistant Coaches Brian Caldwell and
8Anthony DeMauro; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate the Western Springs 11U All-Stars baseball
12team on winning the Illinois Little League State Championship,
13and we wish them continued success in their future endeavors;
14and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16presented to Manager Jeff Thiede, Assistant Coaches Brian
17Caldwell and Anthony DeMauro, and each player on the Western
18Springs 11U All-Stars baseball team as an expression of our
19respect and esteem.
