HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the National Veterans Art Museum on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The National Veterans Art Museum has served as a space for veterans, military personnel, and civilians to have a dialogue on the impact of war since 1981; and

WHEREAS, The National Veterans Art Museum is based in Chicago and holds an extensive collection of over 2,500 works, with pieces regularly on display in special exhibitions around the world; and

WHEREAS, The National Veterans Art Museum showcases artwork created by veterans, providing a unique perspective on their experiences in war, military conflicts, and peacekeeping missions; and

WHEREAS, The National Veterans Art Museum helps to serve as an artistic outlet for veterans as they process their physical and emotional experiences from their military service; and

WHEREAS, The National Veterans Art Museum serves an important role in challenging audiences to reflect on the consequences and impact of war on our society and nation; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the National Veterans Art Museum on its 40th anniversary, thank the museum for its work, and wish it many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the National Veterans Art Museum as an expression of our esteem and respect.
