HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Taggart VanEtten on the occasion of his setting the new 100-mile treadmill world record; and

WHEREAS, Taggart VanEtten grew up in Manito; he graduated from Midwest Central High School; he attended Lincoln College and Illinois Central College, where he participated in college running and competed in triathlons; and

WHEREAS, Taggart VanEtten lives in Morton; he works as a Physical Education teacher at Bartonville Grade School; he also coaches a running team; and

WHEREAS, Taggart VanEtten completed his record breaking 100-mile treadmill run in 11 hours, 32 minutes, and 5 seconds at Seasons Gastropub in Morton on May 1, 2021, beating the time set by previous record holder Zach Bitter by nearly 40 minutes; and

WHEREAS, Taggart VanEtten hopes to qualify as a marathon runner for the 2024 Olympics; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Taggart VanEtten on his achievement of setting the new 100-mile treadmill world record and wish him continued success in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Taggart VanEtten as an expression of our esteem and respect.
