SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

30 ILCS 235/10 new

Amends the Public Funds Investment Act. Provides that on any investment of public funds by the State of Illinois, or by a State official on behalf of the State, that entitles the State to a shareholder voting interest in a corporation, the State, or a designated State official, shall issue votes in its capacity as a shareholder. Provides that any vote made by the State in its capacity as a shareholder shall be recorded and reported to the General Assembly, and made publicly available on the Internet website of the State Treasurer.

AN ACT concerning finance.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Public Funds Investment Act is amended by adding Section 10 as follows:

(30 ILCS 235/10 new)

Sec. 10. State investment voting interest. On any investment of public funds by the State of Illinois, or by a State official on behalf of the State, that entitles the State to a shareholder voting interest in a corporation, the State, or a designated State official, shall issue a vote in its capacity as a shareholder. Any vote made by the State in its capacity as a shareholder under this Section shall be recorded and reported to the General Assembly, and made publicly available on the Internet website of the State Treasurer.
