SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Georgia Grace Saffo; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Saffo was born to Leonard and Annie Laura Graham Zackery in Covington, Georgia on November 26, 1930; she married Walter J. Saffo in the early 1950s; she joined St. Paul AME Church at an early age and served there until she moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1960; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Saffo worked as a dental technician and HeadStart preschool educator after college in the 1980s; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Saffo enjoyed cooking, listening to jazz music, and spending time with her family; her legacy of faith and service continues to inspire her loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Saffo was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Walter; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Saffo was mother to seven children; grandmother to 15 grandchildren; great-grandmother to 24 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandmother to four great-great grandchildren; and sister to three siblings; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Georgia Grace Saffo and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Georgia Saffo as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
