HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the DePaul College Prep boys basketball team, the Rams, on winning the 2022-23 Illinois High School Association Class 2A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Rams captured their title with a 65 to 41 victory over Bloomington Central Catholic on March 11, 2023 at the State Farm Center in Champaign; and

WHEREAS, The Rams coasted to an easy victory, earning the championship trophy and ending the season with a 23 and 12 final record; and

WHEREAS, It is the first state championship for the Rams, who finished third in Class 2A in 2022 and 2019 and lost the Class AA title game in 1990 when the school was known as Gordon Tech; and

WHEREAS, The Rams are led by Head Coach Tom Kleinschmidt and Assistant Coaches Michael Sneed and Craig Madzinski; they are supported by President Mary A. Dempsey, Principal Megan Stanton-Anderson, and Athletic Director Pat Mahoney; and

WHEREAS, The Rams are Cole Jungwirth, Gus Donohue, Rob Walls, Jonas Johnson, Jack Kenessey, Makai Kvamme, Myles Stewart, Henry West, Will O'Shields, PJ Chambers, Payton Kamin, Rashaun Porter, Maurice Thomas, Jack Hoste, Jaylan McElroy, and Dane Barkley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the DePaul College Prep boys basketball team, the Rams, on winning the 2022-23 Illinois High School Association Class 2A State Championship and wish them many more successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Rams' players and coaches as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
