SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Billy Gene Sneed of Moline, who passed away on November 10, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sneed was born to Enos Monroe and Bessie (Counts) Sneed in Russellville, Alabama on August 30, 1927; he proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II; he earned a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Auburn University; he married Mary Catherine Hester in Russellville on May 16, 1953, and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sneed worked for John Deere for 40 years; he first worked in Atlanta before moving to the Quad Cities where he worked as product support manager; he retired in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sneed was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church of East Moline and served on several committees over the years; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sneed enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and working in his yard; he also loved Auburn football and Iowa football and basketball; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sneed is survived by his daughters, Beverly (Bill) Nesbit and Marilyn (Greg) Cornish; his grandchildren, Nate (Caitlyn) Nesbit, Sam (Eliza) Nesbit, Grant (Caitlin) Cornish, and Emily (Zack) Jaeger; his great-grandchild, Graham Cornish; and his siblings, Leland (Annette) and Carolyn Fuller; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Billy Gene Sneed and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Billy Sneed as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
