SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" Dowdal Sr. of Colona, who passed away on July 26, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Bob Dowdal was born in Moline to Leo and Clara Lava Dowdal on November 20, 1926; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict; he married Lorraine Donaway in Rock Island on August 15, 1946, and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Bob Dowdal was a member of the Colona American Legion and the Moline VFW; he was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church; he also enjoyed traveling, especially through the mountains; and

WHEREAS, Bob Dowdal was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; and

WHEREAS, Bob Dowdal is survived by his children, Debra L. Von Maur, Robert L. (Stephanie) Dowdal Jr., and Mark L. (Mary) Dowdal; his 11 grandchildren; his 16 great-grandchildren; and his two great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert L. "Bob" Dowdal Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob Dowdal as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
