SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy Violet Sherman of Park Ridge, who passed away on June 10, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was born to Frank and Elizabeth Schmelitsch, Austrian immigrants, in Chicago on July 10th, 1928; she graduated from Waller High School in 1945; she married Herbert Leo Sherman in 1955 and moved to Park Ridge in 1966; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman loved to prepare meals for her family for the holidays; she enjoyed caring for and playing games with her grandchildren; she will be remembered for her positivity, generous and non-judgmental spirit, and willingness to help others no matter the situation; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Francis Trimay and Eleanor Brissette; and her brother, Leo; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman is survived by her children, Michael, Mark (Joyce), Linda, and Matthew (Robin); her grandchildren, Jake, Frank, Olivia, Daniel, Hannah, Alexandria, and Julia; and her great-grandchild, Skyler; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Violet Sherman and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Sherman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
