SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Richard B. Powell of Moline, who
4passed away on October 7, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Powell was born to Cloyse B. and Berdella
6A. Doyle Powell in Highland Park, Michigan on September 22,
71930; he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean
8Conflict; he married Darleen R. Beckstrom in Denver, Colorado
9on May 1, 1953, and she preceded him in death on April 5, 2009;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Richard Powell worked as an accountant with
12Caterpillar Inc. from 1964 until his retirement in 1985; he
13also started the Powell Income Tax Service in 1966; he later
14became a realtor with both Century 21 and South Towne; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Richard Powell was a member of Bethany Church in
16Moline; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Richard Powell was preceded in death by his wife;
18his parents; his daughter, Debbie Loftin; and his brother,
19Joe; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Richard Powell is survived by his children,

1Donald Powell, Dori (John) McCartney, and Dawn (Tim) Robinson;
2his son-in-law, Mark Loftin; his 16 grandchildren; his 18
3great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Mary Lea Powell;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Richard B. Powell and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Richard Powell as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
