SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen G. Afferica of Moline, who passed away on August 29, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Afferica was born to Stephen George and Mae (Miko) Afferica in Weehawken, New Jersey on November 27, 1935; he served in the U.S. Army for two years; he married Judith Stentz in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 8, 1962; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Afferica worked in management for International Harvester in East Moline for over 26 years, retiring in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Afferica was an excellent woodworker and ran a Christmas wood craft business for 11 years; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Afferica enjoyed investing, political science, and gardening; he was also an avid Duke University basketball fan; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Afferica is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Judy; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Cindy Afferica; and his sister, Joan Afferica; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stephen G. Afferica and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen Afferica as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
