SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Floyd C. Mitton of Moline, who passed
4away on July 28, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton was born in Carbon Cliff to Albert
6and Alice (Carey) Mitton on July 15, 1930; he graduated from
7United Township High School in 1949 and completed a five-year
8apprenticeship at John Deere as a metal pattern maker; he
9married Carol Riceman in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army from
101954 to 1956 as a pattern maker at Fort Belvoir; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton returned to John Deere upon his
12honorable discharge; he retired after 32 years, last working
13at Plow and Planter as a pattern shop supervisor, which was
14followed by a second career spanning 30 years as a realtor; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton was affectionately called "Uncle" or
16"Elmer"; he enjoyed being an East Moline-Silvis Rotary member
17and was honored to be a Paul Harris Fellow; he served many
18years as a volunteer fire fighter for the Carbon Cliff Fire
19Department; he was on numerous credit union boards for 50
20years and on various councils at Faith Lutheran Church over
21his 60 years of membership; he enjoyed being with people,
22talking, playing cards, bowling, and golfing; and

1    WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton was preceded in death by his son,
2Doug; his parents; four brothers; and two sisters; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton is survived by his wife, Carol, her
4siblings and their spouses, and many nieces and nephews;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Floyd C. Mitton and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Floyd Mitton as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
