SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Patrick J. "Pat" VandeKerckhove of Moline, who passed away on June 18, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove was born to Albert and Loretta (DeWaganaere) VandeKerckhove in Moline on December 13, 1942; he married Karen Smith at Sacred Heart Church in Moline on May 18, 1968; he served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Ethiopia; and

WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove worked as a letter carrier for the Moline Post Office; and

WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Moline, where he served as an usher; he was a past chief ranger of the Catholic Order of Foresters Sacred Heart Court 651 and past member of Boy Scout Troop 109, where he earned the Arrow Of Light badge; he was also a member of the Moline Activity Center, the Ex Servicemen's Camp, the Moline American Legion, the Center for Belgium Culture, the Moline Elks Club, the Friends Circle Club, and the Moline Post Office Union; and

WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and doing yard work; and

WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert; and

WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Thomas (Kristy) VandeKerckhove and Michele (Tim) Smith; his grandchildren, Daniel Smith, Isaac Smith, Aiden VandeKerckhove, and Drew VandeKerckhove; his sister, Nancy Prouty; and his brother, Michael (Carole) VandeKerckhove; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Patrick J. "Pat" VandeKerckhove and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Pat VandeKerckhove as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
