SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Pamela Jo "Pam" Clarkin of
4Edwardsville, who passed away on December 13, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pam Clarkin was born to Herbert and Dorothy
6(Ludwig) Fellhauer on September 29, 1951; her family briefly
7lived in rural Troy before moving to Edwardsville; she
8attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from
9Edwardsville High School in 1969; she married Michael Clarkin
10in 1971 and graduated from Southern Illinois University
11Edwardsville in 1983; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Pam Clarkin was well-known throughout
13Edwardsville as the 15-year partner with her longtime friend
14Kathy Lohr of the We Can Do This decorating company and for her
15extensive community service and charitable work; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Pam Clarkin was a member of Immanuel United
17Methodist Church of Edwardsville and the United Methodist
18Women, where she most recently served as president; she was
19active in the Glen Carbon American Legion Post 435 Auxiliary
20and Edwardsville American Legion Post 199, volunteering for
21fish fries, working golf nights as the beer cart girl, and
22leading weekly euchre tournaments; she was also an active

1member of the Democratic Party, supporting candidates and
2serving as an election judge across four decades; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Pam Clarkin was renowned for her kindness, as
4well as her joy, wit, nurturing, intellect, fairness, honesty,
5and faith; she enjoyed reading, traveling, cards, antiques,
6puzzles, board games, animals, concerts, and going to the
7theater; despite claiming to have no culinary skills
8whatsoever, her baked goods, cookies, candies, and fudge were
9widely enjoyed by family, friends, and her church's bake
10sales; she was a loving mother and grandmother, and nothing
11filled her with more joy and pride than the happiness of her
12children and grandchildren; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Pam Clarkin was preceded in death by her husband,
14Mike; her parents; her beloved dog, Burke; and her grandpuppy,
15Harold; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Pam Clarkin is survived by her sons, Thomas, and
17his dog, Richard, and David (Rebecca); her grandchildren,
18William and Caroline; her siblings, David (Becky) Fellhauer,
19Pat (Armand) Boudreau, Penny (Tom) May, Dale Fellhauer, and
20Dennis (Brian) Fellhauer; her sister-in-law, Chris (Barry)
21Steele; her nieces and nephews, Tracy, Randy, Armand J.,
22Kelly, Trisha, Patrick, Kimberly, and Matthew; her beloved
23cousins and their families; and many special friends,

1including her best friend for over 50 years, Cheri Drescher;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Pamela Jo Clarkin and extend our sincere condolences to her
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Pam Clarkin as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
