SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Susan M. Beecher-Curtiss, who passed
4away on May 8, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss was born to Ralph and
6Margaret (Proctor) Beecher in Bloomington on March 21, 1950;
7she was raised in rural Anchor; after a move to Missouri with
8her family, she graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High
9School; she married Frank Curtiss on August 11, 1973, and they
10raised their two daughters in Rowe; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss worked at the Pontiac
12branch of The American Lung Association for many years; she
13later worked as the secretary for Pontiac Township; she served
14as the acting supervisor for Esmen Township; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss served in many positions as
16a board member for Township Officials of Illinois and Township
17Supervisors of Illinois; her knowledge of township government
18was vast, and she had an ongoing dedication to teaching
19others; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss was a member of St. Paul
21Lutheran Church of Pontiac and carried her faith with her

1always; she was a 37 year breast cancer survivor and often
2accompanied family and friends to their treatments, as she
3knew the toll of therapy; she was an active member of the
4Pontiac Rotary Club and often spoke of her excitement for the
5annual Christmas party benefiting the children of the
6community; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss was a master crocheter; she
8enjoyed playing cards every chance she had with her friends
9and watching her favorite sports teams, the Chicago
10Blackhawks, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Chicago Bears;
11her favorite pastimes were simply visiting with friends and
12spending time with her family; she was most proud of being a
13mom and grandma and was lovingly called "Mommy Duck" by her
14husband; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss was preceded in death by
16her parents; her younger sister and best friend, Janice Long;
17her paternal grandparents; and her maternal grandparents; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtis is survived by her husband;
19her daughters, Tami (Greg) Putnam and Jennifer Curtiss (Noah
20Kilmer); her grandsons, Ethan Putnam, Owen Putnam, and Aaron
21Putnam; her granddogs, Mitzi, Darby, and Ollie; her brothers,
22Bryan (Karen) Beecher and Todd (Sandra) Beecher; her nieces
23and nephews; her great-nieces and great-nephews; her several

1cousins; and her countless friends; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Susan M. Beecher-Curtiss and extend our sincere condolences to
5her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Susan Beecher-Curtiss as an
9expression of our deepest sympathy.
