1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, ExxonMobil is an American company committed to
3 improving quality of life by meeting the critical needs of
4 society and constantly working to meet the changing needs of
5 its customers and stakeholders, with worldwide operations and
6 five refineries located in the United States; and

7     WHEREAS, One of those refineries, commonly referred to as
8 the Joliet Refinery, is located in the Channahon Township of
9 Will County; and

10     WHEREAS, August 27, 2022 marks the 50th anniversary
11 celebration of the Joliet Refinery's operations in Illinois;
12 and

13     WHEREAS, The ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery contributes
14 millions of dollars to the regional economy and is a stable
15 employer, providing more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs
16 for local pipefitters, electricians, operating engineers,
17 carpenters, and others; and

18     WHEREAS, Each day, The ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery
19 processes over 11 million gallons of crude oil into gasoline,
20 diesel, asphalt, liquefied petroleum gas, and other products
21 for consumers and is among the most energy-efficient and

1 lowest greenhouse gas emission refineries in the country, for
2 which the organization has received EPA Energy Star awards;
3 and

4     WHEREAS, ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery employee volunteers
5 support multiple local STEM education and community uplift
6 campaigns; and

7     WHEREAS, The ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery has been
8 recognized by the Wildlife Habitat Council and Channahon Parks
9 for its commitment to environmental conservation; and

10     WHEREAS, The ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery has been
11 recognized with the AFPM Elite Silver Safety Award for
12 attaining top industry safety performance and excellent safety
13 program innovation and leadership; therefore, be it

14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15 HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16 we declare August 27, 2022 as ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery Day
17 in the State of Illinois; and be it further

18     RESOLVED, That we recognize the ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery
19 on its 50th anniversary, and we thank the organization for its
20 work in supporting the local and state economies and meeting
21 society's energy needs throughout the State of Illinois; and

1 be it further

2     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the Joliet Refinery as an expression of our
4 respect and esteem.
