HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, During a winter storm that hit the State of
3Illinois on February 2, 2022, Plainfield Fire Protection
4District Chief Jon Stratton received an emergency call shortly
5after 7:30 a.m.; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The emergency call was for a pregnant woman in
7labor; the couple was traveling to Edward Hospital and called
8911 when they were at the intersection of Fort Beggs Drive and
9Route 59 in Plainfield; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Chief Stratton arrived at the scene and directed
11the couple to relocate their car to a nearby parking lot prior
12to emergency personnel arriving to assist with the delivery;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Through the assistance of emergency personnel and
15the Plainfield Fire Protection District, a baby girl was born
16at 7:41 a.m.; and
 
17    WHEREAS, In addition to Chief Stratton, Lieutenant Bryan
18Gallup, Firefighter/Medic Bill Cascone, and Firefighter/Medic
19Jim Brereton from Engine 1941 assisted with the delivery; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Firefighters/Medics Robert Martins and Steve

1Tatroe assisted from Ambulance 1914; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Firefighters/Medics Brandon Cymerman and Scott
3Sheldon assisted from Ambulance 1944; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The father cut the newborn's umbilical cord
5before the mother and baby were taken to AMITA Health Saint
6Joseph Medical Center in Joliet by ambulance; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The first responders acted swiftly, helping to
8safely bring a new life into the world despite the difficult
9circumstances the weather presented; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we recognize the Plainfield Fire Protection District and the
13emergency personnel who assisted in delivering a baby girl
14during a winter storm; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That we wish the best for the family of the
16newborn; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That we remember the courage and security our
18fire departments bring to our communities in times of need;
19and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
2presented to Plainfield Fire Chief Jon Stratton, Lieutenant
3Bryan Gallup, and Firefighters/Medics Bill Cascone, Jim
4Brereton, Robert Martins, Steve Tatroe, Brandon Cymerman, and
5Scott Sheldon as an expression of our esteem and respect.
