SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George Cyriel Lambrecht of East Moline, who passed away on January 12, 2020; and

WHEREAS, George Lambrecht was born in East Moline to Cyriel Lambrecht and Bertha Goethals Lambrecht on December 29, 1926; he attended United Township High School where he and his high school golf team placed in state; he married the love of his life, Rachael Jackson Lambrecht, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island on August 22, 1953; and

WHEREAS, George Lambrecht enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for two years as a Gunner's Mate on one of the Navy's Landing Craft Support Ships in the Pacific; after returning home from his service, he became a firefighter with the East Moline Fire Department; he eventually became Assistant Fire Chief before retiring after 25 years of service; he also worked as a realtor and sold hundreds of homes in the East Moline area; and

WHEREAS, George Lambrecht developed his love of golf while working as a young caddy at the Short Hills Country Club in East Moline, which was his favorite golf course; he loved his family and his country; and

WHEREAS, George Lambrecht was preceded in death by his wife, Rachael Jackson Lambrecht; his parents, Cyriel Lambrecht and Bertha Goethals Lambrecht; his sisters, Helen Lambrecht Verstraete and Gabrielle Lambrecht; his brother, Ralph Lambrecht; and his daughter, Ann Lambrecht; and

WHEREAS, George Lambrecht is survived by his sister, Margaret Lambrecht Cook; his brother, Al Lambrecht; his children, Joan Lambrecht Cook, John (Nicki) Lambrecht, Dan (Valare) Lambrecht, Dave (LaTres) Lambrecht; his grandchildren, Kevin Cook, Joe Lambrecht, Matt Cook, Jay Lambrecht, Scott Lambrecht, Marc Crawmer, Adam Lambrecht, Tyler Lambrecht, Jacob Lambrecht, and Ariana Lambrecht; and his 18 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of George Cyriel Lambrecht and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Lambrecht as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
