SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Master Chief John Thomas Willmon Sr. of Staunton, who passed away on December 14, 2019; and

WHEREAS, MCPO Willmon Sr. was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Willmon on September 2, 1947; he graduated from Turner High School in 1964; he married Patricia Ann "Patty" Hartman in Raytown, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, MCPO Willmon Sr. served in the US Navy for 32 years; and

WHEREAS, MCPO Willmon Sr. was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Staunton, the Staunton VFW, the Staunton American Legion, and the National Rifle Association; his hobbies included baseball, coaching, woodworking, and writing; and

WHEREAS, MCPO Willmon Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Carl Willmon and Lee Willmon; and his sister, Winnie Mae Lee Willmon Ponder; and

WHEREAS, MCPO Willmon is survived by his wife, Patty Willmon; his children, Kathreen (Russell) Willmon Bollinger, Kenneth (Stasi) Willmon, and John (Amy) Willmon Jr.; his grandchildren, Tanner, Hunter, Gabe, and Lillian; his great-grandson, Mason; his brothers, Fred Willmon and David Lee Willmon; his sister, Norma Ruth Houston; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Master Chief John Thomas Willmon Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Master Chief Willmon Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
