SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald E. "Don" Cleek of Coal Valley, who passed away on December 31, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Don Cleek was born in Camden to Maurice and Faye (Chapman) Cleek on April 16, 1930; he graduated from Augusta High School in 1948 and married Erma Martin in Rushville on November 12, 1950; he served in the U.S. Army as an airborne engineer from 1950 to 1952; and

WHEREAS, Don Cleek retired in 1988 from John Deere, where he worked as an assembler and welder for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Don Cleek enjoyed working outside in his yard and riding and restoring antique motorcycles; he was a lifelong Cubs fan; and

WHEREAS, Don Cleek was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marion; and

WHEREAS, Don Cleek is survived by his wife, Erma; his son, Rod (Penny) Cleek; his daughter, Sandy O'Neill; his granddaughters, Elizabeth (Ben) Julian and Emily (Tim) Murphy; and his great-grandchildren, Harry Murphy and Laurel Julian; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald E. "Don" Cleek and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Cleek as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
