SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John S. Leithner of Rock Island, who passed away on December 22, 2019; and

WHEREAS, John Leithner was born in Moline to Jack and Winona (Einfeldt) Leithner on November 8, 1947; he served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in Vietnam; he married Nancy Tiefenbach on January 29, 1972; and

WHEREAS, John Leithner was employed with Illinois Bell (AT&T); he retired as a lineman after 30 years; and

WHEREAS, John Leithner was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; he enjoyed watching his grandchildren's baseball and softball games and fishing; he was extremely patriotic and always the life of the party; and

WHEREAS, John Leithner was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, John Leithner is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy; his daughters, Laura (Scott) Estes and Linnsey Leithner (Tommy Belowske); his grandchildren, Faith and Bryant Estes; and his sister, Jacklyn Leithner; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John S. Leithner and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Leithner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
