SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leo F. Williams of Coal Valley, who passed away on December 22, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Leo Williams was born in Sextonville, Wisconsin to Ray and Grace (Fry) Williams on March 4, 1931; he served in the U.S. Navy for four years and married Edith Beard in Buena Vista, Virginia on May 21, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Leo Williams worked at the Federal Aviation Administration for over nine years before going to work at the International Harvester Farmall Plant in Rock Island, where he worked for over 17 years as an induction heat treat engineer; he ended his career after over seven years at the Rock Island Arsenal as an electronic technician; and

WHEREAS, Leo Williams was a member of Boy Scout Troop #118, the Rock Island County Civil Defense, and the Civil Air Patrol; he was also an amateur radio operator for much of his life and obtained his pilot's license in 1959; he enjoyed radio-controlled model boats and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Leo Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; infant brother; and his grandson, Matthew Williams; and

WHEREAS, Leo Williams is survived by his children, Fred (Aletha) Williams, Patricia (Ronald) Jones, Harry (Tomah) Williams, Linda (Darryl) Rochford, and Robert (Shelley) Williams; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Louise Noble; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leo F. Williams and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leo Williams as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
