SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Herman Stallworth Jr., who passed away on September 7, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Herman Stallworth was born in Chicago to Herman Sr. and Mary L. Stallworth on August 8, 1956; he graduated from Bennett Elementary School and Harlen High School, where he was valedictorian; he continued his secondary education at the Illinois Institute of Technology; he married Arnese Smith on December 31, 1977; and

WHEREAS, Herman Stallworth worked for various companies as a chemical engineer; and

WHEREAS, Herman Stallworth was a member of Saint James AME Church, where he taught Sunday school; he was an avid bowler and a member of various leagues; he was the treasurer of the Harry Bentley Sunday Morning Men's League and a member of the Castaway Seniors and Union Elite Bowling Leagues; he also enjoyed being an advocate for the AA Association; and

WHEREAS, Herman Stallworth was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Herman Stallworth is survived by his wife of 41 years, Arnese; his children, Sherman, Michon (Brijette), and Ebony; his grandchildren, Keywone, Khya, and Willow; his brother, Andrew (Dawn) Stallworth; his sisters, Rachael Carlton (Dan) and Marie Moore; his aunt, Comella Smith; his sisters-in-law, Marcita (Kelvin) Highsmith, Delonia (Steven) Smith, Trina (the late Daryl) Matthews, and Alicia (Kyle) Scroggins; his brother-in-law, William (Michelle) Smith; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Herman Stallworth Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Herman Stallworth as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
