SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Priscilla M. Curran of Downers Grove, who passed away on November 20, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was born in Janesville, Wisconsin to Harold P. and Mary Catherine "Katy" (Campion) McKewan on July 16, 1926; she attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Janesville High School in 1944; she graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater in 1948, where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority; she married Richard Curran on August 18, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was a teacher in Freeport; she taught at Joliet Junior College (JJC), Joliet Township High Schools (JTHS), and Freeport High School; she was one of the founding educators at the JJC North Campus in Bolingbrook and was a long-time substitute teacher and night school teacher with the JTHS system; and

WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was a devoted parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where she was involved in the St. Raymond's Women's Club and the Eucharistic Ministry; she was active in her community and was especially committed to the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and the Women of Rotary; she enjoyed 20 years of retirement with her husband, and they spent the cold winter months in sunny Siesta Key, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Curran; her parents; and her sisters, Virginia Skelly, Jean Valasky Ganzow, and Dorothy Price Stokes; and

WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran is survived by her children, Kathleen (James) Schlesser, Michael (Colleen) Curran, Jane (William) Purpura, and Timothy (Anthony Ng) Curran; her grandchildren, Jay Schlesser, Katy Law, Andrew Schlesser, Steve Schlesser, John Curran, Daniel Curran, Kelly Malette, and Patti Purpura; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her cousin, John R. Smith; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Priscilla M. Curran and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Priscilla Curran as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
