SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Priscilla M. Curran of Downers Grove, who
4passed away on November 20, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was born in Janesville,
6Wisconsin to Harold P. and Mary Catherine "Katy" (Campion)
7McKewan on July 16, 1926; she attended St. Mary's Grade School
8and graduated from Janesville High School in 1944; she
9graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater in 1948,
10where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority; she
11married Richard Curran on August 18, 1951; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was a teacher in Freeport; she
13taught at Joliet Junior College (JJC), Joliet Township High
14Schools (JTHS), and Freeport High School; she was one of the
15founding educators at the JJC North Campus in Bolingbrook and
16was a long-time substitute teacher and night school teacher
17with the JTHS system; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was a devoted parishioner of the
19Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where she was involved in
20the St. Raymond's Women's Club and the Eucharistic Ministry;
21she was active in her community and was especially committed to
22the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and the Women of Rotary; she

1enjoyed 20 years of retirement with her husband, and they spent
2the cold winter months in sunny Siesta Key, Florida; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was preceded in death by her
4husband, Richard F. Curran; her parents; and her sisters,
5Virginia Skelly, Jean Valasky Ganzow, and Dorothy Price Stokes;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran is survived by her children,
8Kathleen (James) Schlesser, Michael (Colleen) Curran, Jane
9(William) Purpura, and Timothy (Anthony Ng) Curran; her
10grandchildren, Jay Schlesser, Katy Law, Andrew Schlesser,
11Steve Schlesser, John Curran, Daniel Curran, Kelly Malette, and
12Patti Purpura; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and
13nephews; and her cousin, John R. Smith; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Priscilla M. Curran and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Priscilla Curran as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
