SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Martha Pulido Logemann of Rockford, who passed away on January 25, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Martha Logemann was born in Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico to Esperanza (Sanchez) and Juan Pulido on January 22, 1950; at age six, she moved with her family to Rockford; she graduated from Auburn High School in 1969; she attended the University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico; and

WHEREAS, Raised with a passion for justice, Martha Logemann began a long career of public activism in 1972; she volunteered for the McGovern presidential campaign; she also served in various roles for the YWCA, Rosecrance, Congressman John Cox, Stepping Stones, the Winnebago County Democratic Party, the Coalition for Choice, Women Electing Women, the League of Women Voters, the Northern Illinois Women's Center, South West Ideas for Today and Tomorrow, and the Northwest Illinois Area Agency on Aging; she also served as a Rockford Township Trustee; and

WHEREAS, Martha Logemann was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church; she was a great cook and baker; she enjoyed relaxing with her family at their annual Thanksgiving reunion; she was vibrant and full of spirit and vigor; and

WHEREAS, Martha Logemann was preceded in death by her father, Juan Pulido, and her brother-in-law, Carl Logemann; and

WHEREAS, Martha Logemann is survived by her mother, Esperanza Pulido; her mother-in-law, Jean Logemann; her husband, Clark Logemann; her sons, Eli and Andrew Logemann, her brothers, Juan (Yolanda) Pulido and Gilbert (Janet) Pulido; her sister, Donna (Kent) Jones; her brother-in-law, William (Anne) Logemann; her sisters-in-law, Lynne (Kerry) George, Elaine Enriquez, and Mary Kay Logemann; her nieces and nephews, Valeria Pulido, Monica Pulido, Juan Pablo Pulido, Sam Jones, Kayla Jones, Allison Pulido, Andrea Pulido, Jeremiah Logemann, Christopher (Marni) George, Jessica (Jamie) Zabel, Jonathan (Sarah) Logemann, and Teresa Logemann; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Martha Pulido Logemann and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Martha Logemann as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
