SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth R. Peterson of Rock Island, who passed away on October 18, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Peterson was born in Moline to Philip and Albertina Carlson Peterson on September 12, 1926; following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy; he married Betty Stout at First Lutheran Church in Rock Island on June 2, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Peterson retired from Deere Harvester as a senior engineer in 1982, after 35 years; he spent three years in the expat program, which placed him and his family in Zweibrucken, Germany; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Peterson was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church; he was a proud volunteer for Junior Achievement; he enjoyed traveling with Betty and wintered for many years in Florida; he loved to play golf and tennis; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Peterson was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Lund; and his brothers, Donald and Keith Peterson; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Peterson is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Peterson; his children, Kathleen Peterson, Linda (Warren) Hartmann, and Craig (Cherie) Peterson; his grandchildren, Julia and Caroline Hartmann, Patti (Barry) Nord, Jenni (Tom) Wallaert, and Casey (Tanya) Peterson; his great-grandchildren, Emma, Dylan, Kenley, Weston, Corey, and Candice; and his sister, Joyce Anderson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth R. Peterson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenneth Peterson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
