SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene "Gene" Buss of East Moline, who passed away on October 9, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Gene Buss was born in Blue Island to Daniel I. and Ruth Hiemstra Buss on November 3, 1945; he served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1966 and married Beverly Dietrich on July 14, 1968; and

WHEREAS, Gene Buss was self-employed as a safety officer and a consultant; and

WHEREAS, Gene Buss was a true outdoorsman; he was a woodcarver and enjoyed cast iron cooking, shooting, camping, fishing, and hunting; and

WHEREAS, Gene Buss was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, and his brothers, Daniel R. and Clifford D. Buss; and

WHEREAS, Gene Buss is survived by his children, Michelle (Ron) Shong, Aaron (Vicky) Buss, Brad Buss, and Dave (Sarah) Buss; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his mother, Ruth Buss; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eugene "Gene" Buss and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gene Buss as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
