SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Geraldine Johnson, who passed away on
4September 22, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson was born in Bolivar,
6Mississippi to Elgie and Juanita Finley on April 9, 1936; she
7married Robert Martin Johnson Sr.; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson retired after 38 years of
9service to the Illinois Department of Revenue; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson was a great asset to the
11community of Springfield; she served as a board member of CCC
12and was a member of the Illinois State Employees Association;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson was a member of Union Baptist
15Church for 76 years, where she served in several capacities,
16including as an usher and greeter and with the newsletter
17committee, the Missionary Circle, the Golden Girls, and the
18A.L. Wilson committee; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson was preceded in death by her
20parents; her husband, Robert; her son, Robert Martin "Bobby

1Grove" Johnson Jr.; her brother, Augusta McKinney; and her
2sister, Juanita Huggins; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson is survived by her daughter,
4Jackie; her sons, Michael Johnson, Gary Jones, and John Jones;
5her granddaughters, Michelle (Corey) Cole and D'Andre Hardy;
6her grandsons, Kevin Jones and Richard McCloud; and numerous
7grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins,
8and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Geraldine Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Geraldine Johnson as an expression
16of our deepest sympathy.
