SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Geraldine Johnson, who passed away on September 22, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson was born in Bolivar, Mississippi to Elgie and Juanita Finley on April 9, 1936; she married Robert Martin Johnson Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson retired after 38 years of service to the Illinois Department of Revenue; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson was a great asset to the community of Springfield; she served as a board member of CCC and was a member of the Illinois State Employees Association; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson was a member of Union Baptist Church for 76 years, where she served in several capacities, including as an usher and greeter and with the newsletter committee, the Missionary Circle, the Golden Girls, and the A.L. Wilson committee; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her son, Robert Martin "Bobby Grove" Johnson Jr.; her brother, Augusta McKinney; and her sister, Juanita Huggins; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Johnson is survived by her daughter, Jackie; her sons, Michael Johnson, Gary Jones, and John Jones; her granddaughters, Michelle (Corey) Cole and D'Andre Hardy; her grandsons, Kevin Jones and Richard McCloud; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Geraldine Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Geraldine Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
