SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Verne Richard Jamieson, formerly of East Moline, who passed away on September 16, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Verne Jamieson was born in Moline to Wallace Verne and Emma (Peterson) Jamieson on May 27, 1920; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he married Rose Fuqua in 1942, and they later divorced; in 1980, he married Dorothea Spinhirne Taft; and

WHEREAS, Verne Jamieson worked with his father and brother at Jamieson Garage in Moline until 1972; he then worked for John Deere; and

WHEREAS, Verne Jamieson was a member of the American Legion and the VFW; he enjoyed walking and biking; and

WHEREAS, Verne Jamieson was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea; a grandson; his sister, Lorraine McLaughlin; and his brother, Robert Jamieson; and

WHEREAS, Verne Jamieson is survived by his children and their spouses, Stephen V. and Sharon Jamieson, Michael Timothy and Linda Jamieson, and Laurie and Craig Revel; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marilyn Ade; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Verne Richard Jamieson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Verne Jamieson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
