SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Archie H. McCallister of Rantoul, who
4passed away on September 8, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Archie McCallister was born in Prospect to Roy I.
6and Velma (Taylor) McCallister on June 22, 1941; he married
7Carol Sommer at Bethany Park Christian Church in Rantoul on
8December 12, 1969; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Archie McCallister had many jobs in his lifetime;
10in his early years, he worked at Johnson's Ace Hardware; he
11worked at Kraft Foods for ten years, where he served as a
12transport driver; he then worked as a deputy in the Fugitive
13Apprehension Division of the Champaign County Sheriff's Office
14for 24 years; he served as a trustee on the Rantoul Village
15Board from 1985 until 1997; he ran for mayor in 1997; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Archie McCallister was a member of Maranatha
17Baptist Church in Rantoul; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Archie McCallister was preceded in death by his
19parents; his brothers, Jesse Childress and Leonard, Kenneth,
20and Larry McCallister; and two sisters, Shirley Schoonover and
21Virginia Brunner; and

1    WHEREAS, Archie McCallister is survived by his wife, Carol;
2his sons, Matthew (Cheryl) McCallister and Mark (MaryJean)
3McCallister; and his daughter, Amanda (Jeff) Helander; his
4daughters from a previous marriage, Becky and Patti; his
5grandchildren, Shelby (Boe) Stingley, Colin McCallister,
6Alanna and Alivia Brown, and EmmiLynne, Lucas, and AnnaLena
7McCallister; and his sister, Jerry Kay Steiger; therefore, be
8it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Archie H. McCallister and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Archie McCallister as an expression
16of our deepest sympathy.
