SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gilbert Lewis Hebenstreit of Gillespie, who passed away on September 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Hebenstreit was born in Staunton to Donald and Louise (Calcari) Hebenstreit on January 11, 1938; he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps; he married Mary Jean Goehe; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Hebenstreit was the owner and operator of many businesses, including Hebenstreit Funeral Home, Hebenstreit Furniture Store, 3M Sanitation, Hebenstreit Apartments, and car washes; he was also a distributor for Anheuser Busch; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Hebenstreit enjoyed spending time with family and friends and cooking; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Hebenstreit was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Hebenstreit; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Hebenstreit is survived by his wife, Mary Jean; his children, Mary Louise "Weiser" Hebenstreit, Gene (Stephanie) Hebenstreit, and Margaret "Margie" (Mike) Brill; his grandchildren, Britt Hebenstreit, Chelsey (Brandon) Semplowski, Alec Hebenstreit, and Maris Brill; his great-grandchildren, Marlee Hebenstreit, Rowdy Hebenstreit, Viera Hebenstreit, Noah Semplowski, Alyvia Semplowski, and Liam Semplowski; and his sister-in-law, Mary L. Hebenstreit; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gilbert Lewis Hebenstreit and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gilbert Hebenstreit as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
