SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" DeSmet of East Moline, who passed away on August 17, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet was born in Moline to Frank and Mary (Maddelein) DeSmet on December 5, 1937; and

WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet worked for the Rock Island Lines and the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad; he retired from Rock Island Farmall in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet enjoyed bowling, boating, playing cards, gardening, listening to the "oldies," and following the extra curricular activities of his family; he will be remembered for his sweet tooth; and

WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rock Anthony DeSmet; his grandchildren, Luke Patrick, Jonathan Heiar, and Matt Russell; and his siblings, Joyce DeSmet and Richard DeSmet; and

WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet is survived by his children, Richard DeSmet, Daniel (Cami) DeSmet, Theresa Patrick, Annette DeSmet, and Robin (Daniel) Heiar; his brother, Ron (Theresa) DeSmet; his sister-in-law, Betty DeSmet; his 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert L. "Bob" DeSmet and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob DeSmet as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
