SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dennis G. Mathews of Rock Island, who
4passed away on August 9, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews was born in Rock Island to Glen and
6Viola Grieme Mathews on September 1, 1946; he graduated from
7Rock Island High School in 1964; following high school, he
8served in the United States Army; he married Vicki L. DeMeyer
9in Rock Island on October 16, 1982; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews worked as a machinist for Parr
11Instrument Co. in Moline for 27 years; in his retirement, he
12enjoyed a brief career as a dog walker; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews was an avid fan of Rock Island High
14School sports, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Chicago Bears, and
15NASCAR; he enjoyed boating on the Mississippi; some of his
16favorite times were those spent with family; he loved being a
17grandfather; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews was preceded in death by his
19parents and his aunt, Fern; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews is survived by his wife, Vicki; his

1daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and LCDR Scott Shields, USN;
2his granddaughters, Shelby (Garrett) Stevens, Grace Shields,
3and Isabelle Shields; his brother, Dean (Debra) Mathews; his
4nephews, Scott Mathews and Michael (McKenzie) Mathews; and
5several great-nieces and a great-nephew; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Dennis G. Mathews and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Dennis Mathews as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
