SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William Joseph Lucas of Rock Island, who passed away on August 9, 2019; and

WHEREAS, William Lucas was born in Moline to Willis and Mary Lucas on August 1, 1929; he graduated from Rock Island High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married Rita Arlene Gaudet in Seymour, Connecticut on June 6, 1953; and

WHEREAS, William Lucas worked as a mechanical engineer for M. A. Ford Mfg. for over 30 years; and

WHEREAS, William Lucas was involved in many organizations; he associated himself with organizations for the purpose of supporting a culture of life, personal liberty, and the common good of society; and

WHEREAS, William Lucas was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; his parents; his brother, Robert; his son, David; his sister-in-law, Gloria Gaudet; and his brother-in-law, Roger Gaudet Sr.; and

WHEREAS, William Lucas is survived by his sons, Michael, Edward (Ann), and Joseph Lucas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brother-in-law, Norman Gaudet; his special niece and goddaughter, Annette Ochoa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William Joseph Lucas and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Lucas as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
