SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William J. "Bill" Powers Jr. of Elgin,
4who passed away on April 8, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Powers was born in Elgin to William Sr. and
6Vivian (Smith) Powers on August 19, 1937; he was a veteran and
7served in the National Guard; he married Joyce Applehoff on
8September 19, 1959; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bill Powers worked as a painter and wallpaper
10hanger for 43 years; he was a member of the Painters Union in
11Chicago and Aurora; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Powers was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran
13Church in Elgin; he was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox;
14he and his wife spent many hours watching their children and
15grandchildren participating in sports; he enjoyed bowling and
16golfing and spent many years camping with his family; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bill Powers was preceded in death by his father,
18William J. Power Sr.; his mother, Vivian Bryan; his stepfather,
19Neal Bryan; and his brother-in-law, Larry Applehoff; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bill Powers is survived by his wife, Joyce; his

1children, Kimberly (Glenn) Heichel, Kristin (Scot) Hendry, and
2Kurtis Powers; his grandchildren, Nicole (Chris), Troy
3(Cassie), Danielle, Tyler (Kelsey), Jacob, Ryan, and Teagan;
4his great-grandchildren, Alexis, Benton, and Adelyn; his
5brother, Larry Powers; two nephews; and his sister-in-law, Anne
6Applehoff; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9William J. "Bill" Powers Jr. and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Bill Powers as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
