SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty Lou Felder of East Moline, formerly
4of Davenport, Iowa, who passed away on July 21, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty Felder was born in Iowa City, Iowa to
6Anthony and Jacqueline (Lorang) Felder on March 3, 1939; she
7attended St. Luke's School of Nursing, Scott Community College,
8Marycrest College, and St. Joseph's College of Maine; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Betty Felder worked in the operating room at the
10former St. Luke's Hospital; she then joined the United States
11Army, where she served in the nurse corps for over 17 years;
12she attained the rank of major and had been stationed in both
13Vietnam and Germany; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Betty Felder began volunteering with the Ground
15Observation Corp at the age of 14; she was also a hospice
16volunteer; she had a strong faith and believed in serving her
17church; she was a eucharistic minister and helped with the
18bazaar at St. Mary's, volunteered at the Diocese of Davenport,
19and spent 16 months in Medjugorje; she enjoyed crocheting,
20sewing, quilting, and painting with watercolors and received a
21certification from Bob Ross; she also taught cake decorating;

1    WHEREAS, Betty Felder was preceded in death by her parents;
2her siblings, Verna, Jeanene, Jeffery, Jerry, and Tony; and her
3nephew, Richard Wilson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Betty Felder is survived by her nieces, nephews,
5cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Betty Lou Felder and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Betty Felder as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
