SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert John Rolih Ph.D., who passed away
4on December 20, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Rolih was born to Louis and Antonia
6(Benegar) Rolih on June 12, 1928; he graduated from St. Joseph
7Grade School, Joliet Township High School, Joliet Junior
8College, and the University of Illinois; he earned his Ph.D. in
9Organic Chemistry from Iowa State University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Rolih worked at the Monsanto Corporation
11and Amoco before establishing Rho Chemical Company and ARRO
12Laboratory; he also acquired MER and General Surfactants
13throughout his career; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Rolih was a lifetime member of St. Joseph
15Catholic Church in Joliet, where he proudly served as a
16Eucharistic Minister and on many counsels; he was also a member
17of the American Chemical Society, the American Association for
18the Advancement of Science, and the Joliet Lions Club; he
19greatly enjoyed following the Solar Eclipse and traveling to
20Mongolia, Australia, Tahiti, Bolivia, Curacao, Hawaii, Turkey,
21and Goreville; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and
22followed them for many years; he enjoyed reading and listening

1to classical music; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Robert Rolih was preceded in death by his parents;
3and his siblings, Louis, Tony, John, Joseph, and Frank Rolih,
4Mary Walker, and, in infancy, Josephine Rolih; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Rolih is survived by his beloved wife of 62
6years, Lorraine (Sporar); his children, Catherine Rolih
7(Richard) Weinberg, Joan Rolih, and Mark (Donna) Rolih; his
8grandchildren, Jacob and Aaron Weinberg and Anne and Samuel
9Serdar; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Robert John Rolih Ph.D. and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Robert Rolih as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
