SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frank F. Van Houtte Sr. formerly of Moline, who passed away on February 14, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Frank Van Houtte Sr. was born in Moline to Frank and Mary Van Houtte on April 23, 1926; the oldest of eight children, he graduated from Geneseo High School in 1944; he enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS San Carlos (AVP51) Sea Plane Tender during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Frank Van Houtte Sr. worked for International Harvester for 35 years; he was a founding member of Local 1304 UAW-CIO and held membership from 1946 until his retirement in 1981; he served 20 years as shop steward; he then worked for Camera Corner in Moline for 16 years; and

WHEREAS, Frank Van Houtte Sr. was an avid amateur photographer; and

WHEREAS, Frank Van Houtte Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane; his daughter, Alice; his brothers, Arthur and John; his sisters, Pat and Fran; one grandchild, Kelly; and one great-grandchild, Kevin; and

WHEREAS, Frank Van Houtte Sr. is survived by his sister, Mary Rizzolo; his brothers, Emil (Bonnie) Van Houtte and Joe (Linda) Van Houtte; his children, Michael (Vicki) Van Houtte, Frank Van Houtte Jr., and Karen Webber; his 10 grandchildren; his 25 great-grandchildren; and his 3 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frank F. Van Houtte Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frank Van Houtte Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
