SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William C. "Bill" Floyd of East Moline, who passed away on July 8, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Bill Floyd was born in Alton, Missouri to Clifford and Betty (Litherland) Floyd on March 16, 1950; he graduated from United Township High School in East Moline in 1968; he served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1970; he married Marla Marner in East Moline on September 29, 1973; and

WHEREAS, Bill Floyd retired from the City of East Moline after 20 years of service as a waste water treatment operator; he was a 20-year member and former union steward of AFSCME #1234; and

WHEREAS, As a young man, Bill Floyd was a proud member of DeMolay in Colona; he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed attending auctions with Marla, family gatherings, bonfires, and keeping up with his Honey-Do list; in their younger years, Bill and Marla enjoyed playing in softball leagues, going on road trips, and being at the East Moline Speedway in the pits; and

WHEREAS, Bill Floyd was hardworking, never knew a stranger, enjoyed the simple things in life, and had a notorious sense of humor; he loved spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Bill Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marla; and

WHEREAS, Bill Floyd is survived by his children, MaryAnn (Mike) Halpin and Dustin "Cale" Floyd; his grandchildren, Natalie and Will Halpin; his siblings, Kitty (Mike) Lopez, Phil (Robin) Floyd, Kathy (Wayne) Mahoney, Konnie (Eugene) Fry, Robert (DeAnna) Floyd, Roger Floyd, and Beth (Dave) Engle; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William C. "Bill" Floyd and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Floyd as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
