SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harland C. McLaughlin of East Moline, who passed away on June 29, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Harland McLaughlin was born in Jasper County, Iowa to Harland C. and Jewel E. Jones McLaughlin on February 22, 1921; he served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II; he married Naomi Oakberg; and

WHEREAS, Harland McLaughlin had several careers, including farming and missionary work; and

WHEREAS, Harland McLaughlin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Naomi; and his brother, Robert (Arlene) McLaughlin; and

WHEREAS, Harland McLaughlin is survived by his sister, Elsie Glass; and several nieces and nephews, including Kathi (Glenn) Ruud and Mark McLaughlin; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harland C. McLaughlin and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harland McLaughlin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
