SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Pearl Hitchings of Litchfield, who
4passed away on June 23, 2019 at the age of 104; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings was born in Raymond to Roman Sr.
6and Lena (Oberkfell) Herman at the family farm on July 23,
71914; she married Herschel F. Hitchings at the St. Raymond
8parsonage on May 14, 1933; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings was a domestic housekeeper and
10cleaned the Raymond Post Office and library; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings was affectionately known as
12"Auntie Pearl"; she helped raise numerous children and loved
13children in general; even though she was never a mother of her
14own, she was a mother to many; she was a member of St.
15Raymond's Catholic Church in Raymond and was active in the
16Altar and Rosary Society; she was the one and only Senior Queen
17of the Raymond 4th of July Celebration since 1986; she enjoyed
18playing and hosting card parties and quilting; she was an avid
19fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and raised chickens and sold
20eggs; she was a wonderful cook and was famous for her noodles
21and angel food cake; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings was preceded in death by her
2parents; her husband, Herschel; her brothers, Roman Jr.,
3Raymond, and Louis Herman; her sisters, Opal Wagahoff and May
4Herman; her niece, Rena Lou Herman; her nephews, Bob, Harold,
5and Kenny Wagahoff; her great-nephews, Dan and Joe Wagahoff;
6and her great-great-niece, Melinda Marten; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings is survived by her nieces and
8nephews, Mary Francis "Toots" Walch, Gail (Mike) Meisner, Jack
9Wagahoff, Jerry (Vi) Herman, John (Cheryl) Herman, and Bob
10(Karen) Herman; her great-nieces, Diane Bradbury, Judy (Earl)
11Law, Jean (Dan) Matthews, Janet Komor, Jackie (Wade) Clay,
12Jennifer (Roger) Anderson, Donna Wagahoff, Marlene (Carl)
13Marten, Debbie Massey, Jacklyn (Jeff) Still, Debbie (Bruce)
14Jokisch, Julie (Bill) Malach, Dana (Mike) Prather, Amy (David)
15Lovelady, Kristen (Trent) Seed, Kelly (John) Klopp, Kerri
16(Mike) Brockmeyer, Tara (Shane) Gilpin, Katie (Gary) Dulak,
17Anjenete Way, and Ashleigh (Adam) Rockwell; and her
18great-nephews, Dale (Rhea) Wagahoff, Jim (Diane) Wagahoff,

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Mary Pearl Hitchings and extend our sincere condolences to her
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Mary Hitchings as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
