SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph J. Gargano of Silvis, who passed away on May 27, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano was born in Silvis to Jim and Marie Rango Gargano on May 17, 1925; he served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart; he married Carol Johnson and then later married Marilyn Anderson; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano was the head of maintenance at the Rock Island Arsenal for 25 years, retiring in 1985; he then became the owner of K & C Appliances, retiring in 1999; he helped start the auxiliary police department in 1960 and was a member of the U.S. Civil Defense; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano was a member of the Kiwanis, VFW Post 2153, East Moline American Legion Post 227, the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 75 years, and CASI; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carl Gargano; and his sister, Mary Raiche; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano is survived by wife, Marilyn; his daughter, Mary Erricca (Shalamar) Watford; and his grandchildren, Tracy and Okoiya Watford; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joseph J. Gargano and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph Gargano as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
