SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Sherman Coleman of East Moline, who passed away on May 8, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Charles Coleman was born in Prentiss, Kentucky to Birchell and Nina Stevens Coleman on June 15, 1927; he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces and married Daisy Ferguson in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on December 23, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Charles Coleman retired in the early 1980s as a heavy equipment operator; he was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150; and

WHEREAS, Charles Coleman was a lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats; he was a former resident of Park Vista, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends, dancing and playing cards; and

WHEREAS, Charles Coleman was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy; his parents; and his siblings, Eugene, Jewel, Wendell, Virginia, and Margie; and

WHEREAS, Charles Coleman is survived by his children, Nancy (Wayne) Fountain, Patty (Tim) Taylor, and Katie (Kevin) Thornborough; his grandchildren, Kevin (Tracie) Fountain, Scott Fountain, Bethany (John) White, Charity Taylor, Harmony Taylor, Kolton (Ruby Grigsby) Thornborough, and Kyler Thornborough; his great-grandchildren, Naomi and Milo Fountain, Noah White, Ja'von White, John White III, Hudson Crots, and Leauna Grigsby; his sister, Betty Taylor; and his special friend, Sue Fox; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Sherman Coleman and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Coleman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
