SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert O. Taube of Rock Island, who passed away on April 8, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Robert Taube was born in Geneseo to Albert and Hulda Maetzold Taube on July 19, 1923; he graduated from Geneseo High School in 1941 and Iowa State College in 1951; he served in the United States Navy for three years during World War II in the South Pacific; he married Bernice Elling at Concordia Lutheran Church in Geneseo on January 28, 1951; he later married Jo Ann Van DeVeire at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island on July 14, 2000; and

WHEREAS, Robert Taube was employed at John Deere Plow Planter in Moline as a design engineer, retiring in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Robert Taube was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island since 1959, where he served as an officer, sang in the choir, and was the last member of the F Troop; he also participated in the Maple City Band in Geneseo, the New Horizons Band in Davenport, the CASI Band, and numerous other bands throughout the area; and

WHEREAS, Robert Taube was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice; his parents; and all of his siblings; and

WHEREAS, Robert Taube is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his daughter, Rev. Ellen Taube; his brother-in-law, Alan Bamsey; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert O. Taube and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Taube as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
