SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Augustine Joseph "Steno" Circello of Rock
4Island, who passed away on April 10, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Augustine Circello was born in Rock Island to
6Charlie "Peanut" and Lucy (Polito) Circello on June 6, 1925; he
7graduated from Saint Joseph's High School; he served in the
8U.S. Army during World War II with the 63rd Infantry Division
9and then the 83rd Combat Infantry Division; he was part of the
10initial D-Day invasion of Omaha Beach in Normandy, France; he
11was also involved in the campaigns in Northern France, the
12Ardennes, and the Rhineland, which included the Battle of the
13Bulge; his company received a Presidential Citation for the
14capture of 20,000 Germans in Southern France; he earned the
15Purple Heart Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and received an
16honorable discharge; he married Alice Johnson in 1945; he later
17married Lucille Grace in 1963; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Augustine Circello's was with Hardee's
19Restaurants since 1972 and was president of the 53rd Street
20Hardee's restaurant; he was also president of the Tall Corn
21Corporation in Davenport, Iowa; and
 
22    WHEREAS, In 2014, Augustine Circello participated in the

128th Honor Flight of the Quad Cities and flew to Washington,
2D.C. to visit the WWII Memorial; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Augustine Circello was preceded in death by his
4wife, Lucille (Grace) Circello; his son, David Circello; his
5brother, Frank Circello; and his sisters, Rosalie Posateri and
6Frances Perry; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Augustine Circello is survived by his son, Steve
8(Nancy) Circello; his brother, Joseph (Bobbe) Circello; his
9sister, Antoinette Francesckina; seven grandchildren; 11
10great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his
11special friends, Gary and Linda Olson; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Augustine Joseph "Steno" Circello and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Augustine Circello as an expression
19of our deepest sympathy.
