SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald K. Ernat of Rock Island, who passed away on April 15, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ernat was born in Peru to Roman and Pearl Jaraczewski Ernat on March 14, 1934; he graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in 1952; he served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and married Shirley J. Slayden in Rock Island on November 9, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ernat joined Bricklayers Local #7 in Rock Island in 1955; after his service, he resumed bricklaying until 1965; he then became a construction superintendent for a local contractor, retiring in 1988; and

WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Ronald Ernat resided in Unionville, Missouri for 20 years; he was a talented handyman and built both of his homes; his favorite times were those spent with family and friends visiting in Unionville; he enjoyed fishing, especially with his sons and friends at Lake Erie; he adored his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ernat was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; his daughters, Susan Watt and Laura Lee Ernat; his brothers, Raymond and James "Jake" Ernat; and his sisters, Agnes Soldati and Bernice Dhaemers Filas; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ernat is survived by his children, Mark (Pam) Ernat, Curtis (Debbie) Ernat, and Paula Ernat; his son-in-law, Doug Watt; his grandchildren, Dillon and Molly Watt; his step-granddaughter, Kathryn (Eric) Strause-Reyes; his step-great-grandchildren, Kierra, Noah, and Eva; his brothers, Harry (Sandy) and Art (Mary) Ernat; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald K. Ernat and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronald Ernat as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
