SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gary Robert VanOteghem of Moline, who
4passed away on April 1, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary VanOteghem was born in Moline to Robert
6Charles and Norma Mae McCartney VanOteghem on April 20, 1947;
7he graduated from Moline High School and attended Black Hawk
8College; he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1967 to
91969; he married Linda McCoy in Moline on November 1, 1969; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gary VanOteghem was employed as an assembler by
11John Deere Harvester Works for 32 years, retiring in 1996;
12after retiring, he worked for Zimmerman Honda and the Red Dog
13Run Golf Course; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gary VanOteghem was a member of the East End Club;
15he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears; he loved
16spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren
17and enjoyed golfing, bowling, yard work, and music; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gary VanOteghem was preceded in death by his son,
19Jeffrey VanOteghem; his parents; and his sister, Patricia
20VanOteghem; and

1    WHEREAS, Gary VanOteghem is survived by his wife, Linda;
2his sons, Steve and David VanOteghem; his grandchildren,
3Jessica, Kyle, and Gabrielle VanOteghem and Alyssa Nuno; his
4great-grandchildren, Lucy and Eden VanOteghem, Avery Byrne,
5and Norie Rahmatulla; and his best friend, Russ Reese;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Gary Robert VanOteghem and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Gary VanOteghem as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
