| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mildred J. Wiley, who passed away on | 4 | | March 26, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley was born in Chicago to George Jordan | 6 | | and Faytonia Rhodes on December 17, 1955; she graduated from | 7 | | Providence St. Mel High School in Chicago and from Lewis | 8 | | University; she married Houston Wiley Jr. in 1978; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley worked at Bethel New Life for 25 | 10 | | years and then the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago as a | 11 | | community organizer; she was committed to improving the Chicago | 12 | | School
system and served on numerous boards throughout Chicago; | 13 | | she was well
respected in the Austin and Garfield communities; | 14 | | and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley was a member of Claire Christian | 16 | | United Methodist Church in Chicago, and later, Resurrection
| 17 | | United Methodist Church; she was a personable, considerate, and | 18 | | giving person who believed in being positive, hopeful and | 19 | | persistent; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley was preceded in death by her father, | 21 | | George Jordan, and her sister, Janet; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley is survived by her husband, Houston; | 2 | | her son, Corey Wiley; her daughter, Colby Wiley; her
grandson, | 3 | | Joseph Robinson; her mother, Faytonia Fair; her sisters, | 4 | | Laverne Emir and Carlella
Rogers; her brother, Peter (Shaun); | 5 | | her sisters-in-law, Geneva Ormond and Annie Whitmore (Roy); her
| 6 | | brother-in-law, Herman Wiley; and numerous nieces, nephews, | 7 | | cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Mildred J. Wiley and extend our sincere condolences to her | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Mildred Wiley as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
