SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mildred J. Wiley, who passed away on
4March 26, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley was born in Chicago to George Jordan
6and Faytonia Rhodes on December 17, 1955; she graduated from
7Providence St. Mel High School in Chicago and from Lewis
8University; she married Houston Wiley Jr. in 1978; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley worked at Bethel New Life for 25
10years and then the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago as a
11community organizer; she was committed to improving the Chicago
12School system and served on numerous boards throughout Chicago;
13she was well respected in the Austin and Garfield communities;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley was a member of Claire Christian
16United Methodist Church in Chicago, and later, Resurrection
17United Methodist Church; she was a personable, considerate, and
18giving person who believed in being positive, hopeful and
19persistent; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley was preceded in death by her father,
21George Jordan, and her sister, Janet; and

1    WHEREAS, Mildred Wiley is survived by her husband, Houston;
2her son, Corey Wiley; her daughter, Colby Wiley; her grandson,
3Joseph Robinson; her mother, Faytonia Fair; her sisters,
4Laverne Emir and Carlella Rogers; her brother, Peter (Shaun);
5her sisters-in-law, Geneva Ormond and Annie Whitmore (Roy); her
6brother-in-law, Herman Wiley; and numerous nieces, nephews,
7cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Mildred J. Wiley and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Mildred Wiley as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
